With relief and gratitude we can share that Garys scan results have shown a ‘partial response’ to the targeted therapy - with some areas stable and others shrinking.

As always, we are so so thankful for your support. The fundraisers and donations have completely blown us away! There are still several events lined up over the next three months, including a Hadrians Wall trek, two groups taking on the Three Peaks Challenge, and a South Coast Ultra Challenge. It’s a relief knowing that we have raised enough for the next line of treatment which will have to be privately funded, and heartwarming to know that your support, kindness and generosity got us there! For now, we are just so grateful to be able to continue with targeted therapy on the NHS for another three months.

Once the emotional exhaustion of scan results settles, we look forward to enjoying our summer together xxx

Gary had his latest scan results at UCLH last week and received mixed news. The area which was treated with radiotherapy has reduced in size, which is brilliant! However, the second area of cancerous lymph nodes which wasn’t treated has grown. Gary will be starting an NHS targeted therapy called Beacon in April.

We are conscious that this is the most effective treatment for BRAF and Gary’s last good option on the NHS, so we’re feeling more pressure than ever to make sure he can go straight onto the next best thing when this stops working. The professor leading Gary’s care was pleased to hear we are fundraising for future options.

We have several events in the pipeline to continue our fundraising. Keep an eye out for our charity football match and family fun day! We also have several friends and family organising events, including a golf tournament, an 80 mile sponsored trek along Hadrians Wall and a sponsored bike ride. Gary and Lizzy are also walking 28 miles on Easter Saturday if you wish to sponsor them!

Thank you so much for your support. Knowing that Gary has options means the world to us.
